約翰·藍儂（John Lennon，1940年10月9日－1980年12月8日），生於英國利物浦，著名樂隊披頭四成員。

1959年，藍儂和四位當地青年保羅·麥卡特尼（Paul McCartney）、喬治·哈里森（George Harrison）、斯達特·蘇特克裡（Stuart Sutcliffe）、彼得·貝斯特（Peter Best）組成了一支搖滾樂隊，他們先是在本地演出，後又到德國漢堡工作。樂隊幾經易名，最後定為「披頭四」（The Beatles 、又譯「金龜」）。布萊恩·易普斯坦（Brian Epstein）在利物浦洞穴俱樂部看到樂隊表演後，主動提出擔任樂隊經紀人。此時斯達特已經離隊。易普斯坦四處向唱片公司宣傳樂隊，引起喬治·馬丁 （George Martin）的注意，後者同意為他們錄製唱片。 1962年10月，由於馬丁對貝斯特的技術提出異議，樂隊吸收了林戈·斯塔爾（Ringo Starr）作代替貝斯特擔任鼓手。

樂隊在1962年10月5日發行了首張單曲《愛我吧》（Love Me Do），上升到排行榜17位。次年1月11日發行的第二首單曲《請取悅我》（Please Please Me）引起了巨大的轟動，首張專輯也名登英國排行榜首。 1963年3首單曲連續獲得第一名《從我到你》（From Me to You）、《她愛你》（She Loves You）和《我想握往你的手》（I Want to Hold Your Hand）。同年在英國的巡迴演出取得了空前的成功，接著他們開始向大洋彼岸的美國樂壇進軍。1964年「披頭四」以迅雷不及掩耳之勢迅速征服美國。唱片及單曲洪水般佔領排行榜，「披頭四狂熱」（Beatlemania）迅速在世界範圍蔓延
